The Choice Filling Process is one of the most crucial steps in JAC Chandigarh Counselling. After successful registration and document verification, candidates must log in to the portal to submit their preferences for colleges and branches. The seat allotment is based strictly on your JEE Main AIR and the order of preferences you submit during this stage.
Before you begin selecting your preferences, keep the following rules in mind to ensure a smooth process:
Visit the official JAC Chandigarh admission portal and log in using your JEE Main 2026 Application Number and password. Navigate to the "Choice Filling & Locking" section from the dashboard.
Once inside, you will see a list of all participating institutes (like PEC, UIET, CCET) and the B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch programs they offer. You can filter these choices by institute name or by program to easily find your desired options.
Click on the "Add" button next to a college and branch combination to add it to your preference list. Add as many choices as you want. Remember, the order in which they appear on your list is the order the system will evaluate during seat allotment.
Review your selected choices carefully. Use the "Up", "Down", and "Remove" buttons to reorder your preferences. Ensure your absolute dream college/branch is at the very top, followed by your second preference, and so on.
After finalizing the order, click on "Save Choices". Once you are 100% sure, click on the "Lock Choices" button before the deadline. You will likely need to enter your password to confirm the locking process. Take a printout of your locked choices for future reference.
Maximize your chances of getting a good seat by following these expert tips:
There is no maximum limit. You can fill as many available choices of colleges and branches as you want. In fact, it is highly recommended to fill maximum choices to increase your chances of seat allotment.
If you fail to manually lock your choices before the deadline, the system will automatically lock your last saved choices. However, manual locking is advised to avoid any errors.
No, once the choices are locked (either manually or automatically by the system), they cannot be modified for that particular round. Ensure your preference order is final before locking.
