The JAC Chandigarh Merit List serves as the sole basis for seat allotment in the counselling process. JAC Chandigarh does not conduct a separate entrance examination. Instead, it relies entirely on the merit determined by the National Testing Agency (NTA) through the JEE Main 2026 exam. Once candidates register and upload their documents, JAC verifies the details and publishes category-wise lists indicating the candidate's eligible rank.
For admission into B.E. and B.Tech programs, the inter-se merit is strictly prepared on the basis of the All India Rank (AIR) obtained by the candidate in JEE Main 2026 (Paper 1).
Since the admission is directly based on the JEE Main AIR, JAC Chandigarh does not apply its own tie-breaking rules for general rankings. The NTA already applies tie-breaking criteria (based on NTA scores in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and age/application number factors) to ensure every candidate receives a unique rank. Thus, the JEE Main AIR acts as the final decider.
For admission to the B.Arch program at the Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA), the merit list is prepared on the basis of the All India Rank (AIR) obtained in JEE Main 2026 (Paper 2).
After compiling the list based on AIR, JAC Chandigarh bifurcates candidates into specific lists according to the reservation policy (such as the 85% Chandigarh Quota and 15% All India Quota, along with SC, ST, and EWS categories). Only candidates whose category certificates are successfully verified online will be considered under their respective reserved merit lists.
Once published, candidates can check their eligible rank by following these steps:
JAC Chandigarh generally publishes the merit list in two phases:
This list is published initially based on the data and documents provided by the candidates during registration. Candidates are advised to carefully check their details (Category, Quota, Name, etc.) in this list.
If you find any error or discrepancy in the Provisional Merit List (e.g., your Chandigarh Quota or SC category is missing despite valid documents), you must submit a grievance or report it to the JAC committee within the stipulated 1-2 day window, along with supporting documents.
After reviewing all grievances, JAC Chandigarh releases the Final Merit List. This list is absolute, and no further changes can be made. Seat allotment in all subsequent rounds is based strictly on this final list.
