Seat Allotment Process 2026

The JAC Chandigarh Seat Allotment is conducted in multiple rounds based on the candidate's JEE Main All India Rank (AIR), category, sub-category, and the order of choices locked during the choice filling phase. After each round, candidates must log in to view their allotted college and branch, and take necessary actions such as paying the acceptance fee and submitting their willingness (Freeze/Float) to secure the seat.

JAC Chandigarh employs a mock allotment phase before the actual Round 1 results are declared to help candidates make informed decisions:

• Mock Seat Allotment: This is an indicative result based on the choices filled by candidates up to a specific date. It gives you a rough idea of the college and branch you might get. Note: A mock allotment does not guarantee a final seat. You can edit your choices after the mock result.
• Final Seat Allotment: This is the actual allocation of seats for a specific round (Round 1, Round 2, etc.). Once the final allotment is published, candidates must take mandatory actions (fee payment and willingness submission) to retain the seat.

Step 1: Check Allotment Result

Log in to the official JAC Chandigarh candidate portal using your JEE Main Application Number and Password. Click on the "Seat Allotment Result" link to view the institute and academic program allotted to you.

Step 2: Pay the Seat Acceptance Fee

If you have been allotted a seat for the first time, you must pay the mandatory Seat Acceptance Fee (typically Rs. 40,000) online. This fee confirms that you are accepting the seat and will be adjusted against your institutional fee later.

Step 3: Submit Willingness (Freeze or Float)

After fee payment, you must choose your willingness for subsequent rounds. Select Freeze if you are completely satisfied with the allotted seat and do not want any further upgrades. Select Float if you accept the current seat but wish to participate in the next round for an upgrade to a higher preferred choice.

Step 4: Online Document Verification

The allotted institute will verify your uploaded documents online. If any document is found invalid or unclear, a discrepancy query will be raised. You must respond to this query and re-upload the correct document within the given timeframe, failing which your seat may be cancelled.

Step 5: Physical Reporting & Admission

After the final round of regular counselling, candidates who have successfully secured and frozen a seat must physically report to their respective allotted institutes. You will need to carry original documents and pay the remaining balance fee to confirm your admission.

It is vital to understand the implications of the willingness options available after seat allotment:

• FREEZE: You are completely satisfied with the allotted college and course. You will not be considered for any upgrades in future regular rounds.
• FLOAT: You accept the currently allotted seat but wish to be considered for choices you ranked higher in your preference list. If an upgrade occurs in the next round, your current seat will be cancelled. If no upgrade happens, you retain your current seat.
• WITHDRAW / DROP: If you wish to exit the JAC Chandigarh counselling process entirely after being allotted a seat, you can choose the withdrawal option. Refund of the seat acceptance fee will be processed as per the official refund rules.
