JAC Chandigarh 2026 Counselling Process
Overview of Counselling Process

The JAC Chandigarh Counselling Process is conducted entirely online across multiple rounds (usually 3 regular rounds followed by a special spot round). It is designed to ensure a transparent and merit-based allocation of B.E./B.Tech and B.Arch seats in top Chandigarh engineering colleges like PEC, UIET, and CCET. Admissions are strictly based on the All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Main 2026. Below is the comprehensive step-by-step guide to help you navigate the process seamlessly.

Step-by-Step JAC Chandigarh Counselling Process 2026

Step 1: Online Registration & Fee Payment

The first step involves registering on the official JAC Chandigarh portal using JEE Main 2026 credentials. Candidates must pay the non-refundable registration fee (approx. Rs. 2800) online via debit/credit card or net banking. After payment, fill out the detailed application form including personal, academic, and category details.

Step 2: Document Verification

Upon successful registration and document upload, the JAC Chandigarh authorities will conduct an online verification of the submitted certificates (such as category, sub-category, and state quota certificates). Candidates will be notified of any discrepancies, which must be resolved within the specified timeline.

Step 3: Choice Filling and Choice Locking

Registered and verified candidates must log in to fill their preferred choices of colleges and B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch branches. Candidates can fill in as many choices as they wish in the order of their preference. Once satisfied, choices must be locked before the deadline; otherwise, the system will auto-lock the last saved choices.

Step 4: Mock Allotment & Final Seat Allotment

Before the actual allotment, a mock seat allotment may be published to give candidates an idea of the seats they might secure based on their current choices. Following this, the final seat allotment for Round 1 will be declared based on JEE Main AIR, category, and filled choices.

Step 5: Willingness Submission (Freeze / Float) & Fee Payment

Candidates allocated a seat must choose one of the following options:

After submitting the willingness, candidates must pay the seat acceptance fee (approx. Rs. 40,000) online to confirm their allotment.

Step 6: Physical Reporting

After the final round of regular counselling, all candidates who have successfully secured a seat and paid the acceptance fee must report to their respective allotted institutes for physical document verification and admission confirmation.

Documents Required

Candidates must produce the following original documents along with self-attested copies at the time of reporting to the allotted institute:

JAC Chandigarh Spot Round Counselling

After the completion of the regular rounds (typically 3 rounds), JAC Chandigarh conducts a Special/Spot round to fill any remaining vacant seats. Fresh registrations are usually allowed for the Spot Round, and participating candidates must pay a separate Spot Round participation fee. Note that seats allotted in the spot round are final, and upward movement is generally not applicable.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I forget to lock my choices?

If you fail to lock your filled choices before the specified deadline, the system will automatically lock your last saved choices. However, it is highly recommended to manually verify and lock your choices.

What is the difference between Freeze and Float options?

Freeze implies you are satisfied with the allotted seat and do not want to participate in further rounds for an upgrade. Float means you accept the current allotted seat but wish to keep the option open for an upgrade to a higher preference in subsequent counselling rounds.

Can I change my willingness from Float to Freeze later?

Yes, candidates generally have the option to change their willingness from Float to Freeze online before the specified deadline of the subsequent round.
